Abstract: The gold deposits in Tongbai-Shangcheng area are classified into three types,i.e. the magmatic hydrothermal deposit occurrenced in Carbonaceous-clay metamorphosed rocks and in granites, and the gold deposits occurreneed in shear zones. In this paper,the geological characteristics and mineralization conditions of each type gold deposit are summarized. And pointed out, the main auriferous formation in this area is the carbonaceous-clay terrigenous clasfics-carbonate rocks formation,in between that placed volcano-sedimentary. The formation offered mineralised material to gold deposits. The prospecting orientations are the areas of the auriferous formation occurred.
