APPLICATION OF INDUCED POLARIZATION IN THE MINERAL EXPLORATION IN ARUN QI, INNER MONGOLIA

    • Induced polarization (IP) is an effective method widely applied in mineral exploration for sulfide deposits. The method of time domain induced polarization is adopted in the prospective mineral survey in Arun Qi, Inner Mongolia. After IP measurement in gradient array, the apparent chargeability and apparent resistivity contour maps are plotted, then the high chargeability anomalous areas are discovered quickly. Based on geological and geochemical survey results, three anomalous areas are selected for vertical IP sounding. By inversion of the vertical IP sounding data, the chargeability and resistivity sections are obtained. The positions of potential ore(mineralization)bodies are delineated.
