GEOLOGIC CHARACTERISTICS AND PROSPECTING POTENTIALITY OF THE LEAD-ZINC POLYMETAL DEPOSITS IN HUAHALEJIN AREA, INNER MONGOLIA

    • The Pb-Zn polymetal deposits in Huahalejin area are hosted in the fault-alteration belt in the metamorphic andesite of Middle Ordovician Duobaoshan Formation. The ore bodies, occurring in veins, are controlled by NE-trending fault and associated structures, with lead-zinc ores, accompanied by silver and copper. The wallrock alteration involves limonitization, pyritization, epidotization, carbonation and silicification. The polymetal resources are derived from multistage magmatic intrusion, Jurassic volcanic eruption and the favorable strum of Duobaoshan Formation. The deposits belong to hydrothermal filling (vein) type. Study on the geology, geophysics, geochemistry and metallogenic environment of the deposit shows a great potentiality for prospecting.
