METALLOGENESIS AND PROGNOSIS OF THE GREENSTONE BELT GOLD DEPOSITS: A Case Study of Tai'an in Shandong Province

    • With study on the metallogenic conditions for greenstone belt gold deposits in the Au (-Fe) prospect area in Eastern Tai'an region, the ore prospect areas are divided. On the basis of analysis on genetic types of gold deposits and distribution of greenstone, granite and ductile shear zone, it is proposed that the metallogenesis of the greenstone belt gold deposits in the region is dominated by the ductile shear zone, based on greenstone, and triggered by granite. Ore prognosis is put forward with quantization for the metallogenic factors. It is suggested that further prospecting should follow the metallogenic model of greenstone-granite-ductile shear zone, with respect to the characteristics of genetic types of deposits.
